2/19/20 | 240 Foot level

240 Level Cut Samples

On the 10th of February, 2020 multiple cut samples were taken from the sill of the 240ft level of the Bates Hunter Mine. These samples were taken from an easily and safely accessible location. Tools used to obtain these cut samples include hammer and chisel, electric grinder, sample bags, and appropriate personal protective equipment. These samples are the fifteenth set of samples taken by the current operator of the Bates-Hunter mine, BH Mining Company, and the third set of samples taken in 2020.  

The sampling is of the Bates vein in the sill of the drift on the 240 ft level, about 170 ft west from the shaft. All samples were cut in 6ft intervals from one another progressing towards the west. All samples were cut perpendicular to the strike of the vein over the visibly identifiable width of heavy mineralization.

Samples were sent to Hazen Research, Inc. in Golden, Colorado who performed fire assay analysis with gravimetric finish. Results presented in Table 1.0 are from Analytical Report 20M01304.

BH Sample Descriptions

(All cut samples are 1 inch deep, 1 inch wide along a variable reported length)

(H stands for “Heart” of vein, N stands for “North side” of the vein in an altered rock section)

Big Bertha: Big Bertha is the sample name of a heavily mineralized footwall rib located in the West Hunter Escape Shaft. The Miners quickly nicknamed this Slab due to its large size (approximately 25 ft tall, 25 ft long and 3 ft deep), and central location near current rehabilitation work, about 110 ft down the shaft. This is a grab sample and the mineralization that is observed consists of massive pyrite with minimal chalcocite and sericite.

240-016: 5” sample length in about 1” dark grey vein material and remaining 4” is cut through grey powdery substance, most likely a grey colored sericite. Almost no crystalline pyrites visible. Vein structure appears to be pinching out.

240-017: 10” sample length in what appears to be a vein structure composed of primarily massive quartz as well as some altered rock to the North. The sulfide rich vein material from previous samples has all but disappeared. There is a very sharp contact with the quartz vein and relatively unaltered Biotite Gneiss country rock to the south of the vein structure. On some of the fractures within the quartz vein there is visible pyrite and chalcopyrite. To the north of the quartz vein is minorly altered biotite gneiss.

240-018H: The sulfide rich vein material has reappeared and a sample length of 3” was cut out of the heart of the vein. Mineralization is about 70% pyrite, 20% chalcocite, and 10% quartz. Dark grey in color, and the vein is poorly held together with small sulfide crystals.

240-019H: 7” Sample length in heavy mineralized dark grey sulfides grading into highly altered and bleached white sericite to the south. Fairly small crystals of pyrite and chalcocite along with sericite make up the composition.

240-019N: 14” Sample length just north of the vein heart. Composed of very altered grey sericite material, with minimal visible pyrites. 

 

Near-term planned work includes additional samples to be taken from the 240-foot level.  Mineralized material located in fill and easily accessible vein remnants is being gathered as it becomes safely accessible for bulk sample analysis to include metallurgical recovery and mineral processing properties.
